Mountain Joy Cottage #2, Wolf Cottage, is named for the magnificent wolf of the wild. This cottage is adorned in the greys and blues with everything wolf.

Originally the homestead of Maggie Setzer, for whom Maggie Valley was named, the land that Mountain Joy sits is a special place. You will become enchanted with it’s mountain charm, family atmosphere and character. We offer all the modern conveniences you would expect with the year-round access and seclusion that very few can offer.

Enjoy the peaceful country setting of our cottages. We have one, two and four bedroom cottages all equipped with wood burning fireplaces, cable TV, internet and kitchens ready to cook a home made meal. Outside the porches have rocking chairs so you can enjoy your morning coffee or enjoy the sunset on the mountains in the evening. Our glass enclosed outdoor pool (seasonal) offers a delightful place to relax.

Mountain Joy Cottages are centrally located in the heart of Maggie Valley just one block up Setzer Cove Road with easy access to all of the area attractions. We are just minutes off of the Scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The area is loaded with craft, antique and gift shops. The great outdoors offers horseback riding, golf on area mountain courses, trout fishing in streams, white water rafting and scenic drives. Snow skiing and tubing is available for the entire family at Cataloochee Ski Area. Nightlife includes everything from Jazz to Bluegrass, clogging or dinner entertainment. Our cottages are just a short drive to the Great Smoky Mountain Railway, Asheville and The Biltmore Estate, Cherokee and the Indian Reservation and Harrah’s Casino and historic downtown Waynesville.

  The cottage was adorable and cozy in a great location. Loved the front porch and the rockers. Unfortunately, when we arrived the front door inside and out, and the windows over the sink were extremely dirty. As directed in my arrival papers, I notified the management company. Also, the living room lamp was broken, as were one of the blinds in the 2nd bedroom. I was told they would report it. When hours went by, we stopped by the office, and they said they would arrange to have housekeeping clean the glass. I had to hang towels and clothes over the window with the broken blinds. The most annoying problem was the fitted sheet on the bed in the 2nd bedroom. It was not pulled all the way over the mattress because the bed was up against the wall. I have an injured back, and was not able to pull the bed away from the wall to fix it. This should have been done by housekeeping. I didn't feel comfortable reporting it because the other issues were not addressed by management. Every morning, the sheet was not covering the mattress.

  Perfect. We stayed in the Wolf Cabin (#2). Clean, quiet, beautiful, comfortable, well provisioned, we lacked for nothing. Mornings and evenings on the porch, rocking, feeding the ducks, watching the elk eat apples in the front yard. Catching and releasing Sun Fish in the pond. Quick access to anything you could want and we always felt safe and happy.
