  The property was exactly as it was described online, and more. It is in a beautiful location. With great views and only minutes away from nearby shopping and dining. We enjoyed our delicious meal at JArthur’s and found the perfect gifts to take home to our family at The Old Grey Mare! Very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and only about 20 minutes away from Cherokee. We highly recommend Eagle’s Nest Cottage. The only downfall was that the fireplace stopped working on the first night of our stay.

  The driveway and yard are pretty steep (which is mentioned in the listing) but the view from the wraparound porch was lovely. I took my puppy and had a little difficulty walking her in the yard on the side of the house due to the incline but there is a small area behind where we parked and a fire pit area that is more flat so she could run her zoomies out back there safely. The cabin was clean and comfortable, the kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed.

  The view is amazing! The outdoor space is great, too, as long as it's not too windy. The inside is very well done...good layout, nicely decorated, very comfortable. We did have a maintenance issue, but it was resolved. The road up the mountain gets quite steep, and the driveway is even more steep but short. There is room for 2 normal-sized cars (a sedan and an SUV) at the top of the driveway where it is flat. The area is very quiet and peaceful.

  Cottage was very cozy and clean , however , we were in town for the Mini truckin Nationals and had a dually flatbed hauling a show truck. The cottage is up a mountain with a very narrow road and we were unable to get the trucks up there and into the driveway. We had to back down the mountain in reverse which was terrifying , so luckily we had friends with another cabin behind the fire station and we had to leave the flat bed and the show truck at their cabin. Eagles Nest is a perfect getaway if you do not have circumstantial issues like we did. The views from this cabin are beautiful.

  It was a very pleasant getaway. Being a little off season, and with Covid restrictions, there were fewer things to do away from the cabin. The diminished number of attractions could be a negative to some, but it worked well for us. We were fortunate enough to get the proper amount of snow the first night. Enough to create a very picturesque setting but not treacherous for travel. The roads and driveway with snow and ice would not be for the ill equipped. The Eagles Nest is on our do it again list. Will probably try it a bit earlier when the town is not shut down as much. The Government lockdown orders probably had more to do with that than the people or the season. Maggie Valley is a place we have been before. It and the Eagles Nest will be a place we'll go to again.

  The view from the porch was very nice, the place was small and lacked that cabin feel but was adequate. The driveway is very steep and not lit at night be careful. The driveway was covered in leaves but when I called someone did come to blow them out. My main issue was the kitchen bench broke apart when my friend went to sit on it resulting in a broken toe and bruised hip. I emailed the agency and got no response, not even an apology.

  The property is in dire need of some updating. There is no dishwasher and many of the dishes in the cabinet were not clean. We ended up washing everything before using them. The fireplace didn't work and it took three days before it was fixed. The bed was very uncomfortable and the sheets were very old and yellowed. We would not stay here again.

  The location, and views were nice. Steep roads and driveway but it’s not uncommon in the mountains, but i had no issue getting in and out. Overall the place was great. We used the fire pit and charcoal grill everyday, relaxed on the amazing porch in the mornings. I had a great and relaxing time. I would only suggest people bring their own bathing towels with them, other then that i have no complaints.

  I saw a picture on vrbo of a gray house with a river beside it. Scrolled down and booked. I got there and it was red with no river near it. Guess it was the wrong picture. I booked specifically for the river beside it. In that respect I was disappointed. Also, its SERIOUSLY uphill, with a few tight turns, and tight driveway. It was nice otherwise. Just feel letdown on original photo. I scrolled down on the same page as the photo, so it wasn't a mistake.
